When Eurovision came to Breakout!
May has been a huge month for Liverpool! The city welcomed over 500,000 visitors for the Eurovision Song Contest which saw the streets come alive with music and culture. Liverpool hosted on behalf of last year’s winner, Ukraine, and we did a fabulous job of bringing the party whilst celebrating all things Ukrainian!
At Breakout Liverpool we knew that we needed to get involved… This was a huge opportunity to bring our Escape Rooms to a huge number of new people, including the stars of Eurovision themselves! Our PR team decorated our reception areas with Eurovision bunting and posters, then invited all 37 acts down to play some games, and incredibly - six of them were able to find time to visit.
The representatives from Austria (Teya and Salena), Serbia (Luke Black), Slovenia (Joker Out), Iceland (Dilja Petursdottir), Armenia (brunette), and Portugal (Mimicat) all came to play our Outbreak, Reclassified, and Spellbound rooms, but did they successfully Break Out?... OF COURSE THEY DID! Thank you so much to these incredible performers for coming to play our rooms! You can watch the video of their experiences here!
Our TikTok team also got involved by heading down to the M&S Bank Arena during the week to give some Eurovision fans the chance to win some free games at Breakout! Harry and Shannon even met UK entrant, Mae Muller! During the week we also had a Charity Day to raise money for the Ukraine Appeal, we raised a very respectable £117.60. We had an incredible week and we’re so proud of how well Liverpool came together to show the world what an amazing city we are.
